FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol said one person died and two were seriously injured Thursday afternoon following a head-on crash between a dump truck and a pickup truck in Fernandina Beach.

FHP said the crash occurred around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Amelia Island Parkway and S 14th St, adding that it is unaware of the events that led to the vehicles crashing into one another head-on.
Following the initial crash, FHP said the dump truck, which was overturned in the roadway, was hit by a Toyota sedan.
The dump truck’s driver, a 55-year-old man from Levy County, died at the scene, the agency said. FHP adds that he was not wearing his seatbelt.
An 84-year-old man from Fernandina Beach, who was driving the pickup truck, was listed in critical condition. FHP said he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
A 100-year-old woman, who was driving the Toyota and was wearing her seatbelt, was also seriously injured in the crash.
According to FHP’s Live Traffic Crash and Road Condition Report, the incident is no longer listed.
