ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A search launched Sunday evening for a possible missing person following 911 calls about a personal watercraft crash near the Bridge of Lions was called off around midnight.
Officials responded around 8:50 p.m., after receiving calls about a possible crash involving a personal watercraft near the bridge, according to St. Johns County Fire Rescue.

The search involved multiple agencies, including the St. Augustine Police Department, St. Augustine Fire Rescue and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Officials spoke with witnesses and said video footage showed a personal watercraft doing spins in the water and then taking off.
The search prompted the temporary closure of The Bridge of Lions. By 10:25 p.m., the St. Augustine Police Department announced that the bridge had reopened to traffic.
The search was called off around midnight, with officials saying there was no evidence found of a crash.
