Delta flight carrying 200 passengers catches fire at Orlando International Airport

ORLANDO – A Delta airplane carrying 200 passengers caught fire Monday morning at Orlando International Airport, but there were no initial reports of injuries, WKMG reported.

Delta Air Lines identified the plane as Flight 1213, scheduled to depart OIA to Atlanta at 11 a.m.

The fire started in the tailpipe of one of the aircraft’s two engines, according to the airline.

Video of the fire, which shows flames and smoke coming from the right side of the Airbus A330, was posted on X by Dylan Wallace.

Other videos posted on social media show the plane’s emergency slides deployed with passengers standing nearby.

“We appreciate our customers’ cooperation and apologize for the experience. Nothing is more important than safety and Delta teams will work to get our customers to their final destinations as soon as possible,” Delta said in a statement.

Delta said in addition to the passengers, there were 10 flight attendants and 2 pilots on board.

Customers returned to the terminal building and will be given food and beverages.

Maintenance teams will examine the aircraft, officials said.

“Delta will bring in additional aircraft to help get customers to their final destinations,” the airline added.

Orlando International Airport also released a statement about the incident.

“The fire was contained and is out. Some passengers were evacuated via an emergency slide,” OIA said.

No other details have been released.
