Get inspired, connected and learn something new with Generation W

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – News4JAX joined Generation W Friday as it explored the possibilities that emerge when we open ourselves to new ideas, new experiences, and new ways of leading.

News4JAX highlighted the incredible impact of this organization with a special streaming event Friday afternoon on News4JAX Plus.

For the past week, Generation W’s founder Donna Orender, a local trailblazer and former WNBA president, introduced us to women with inspiring stories.

  • On Monday March 24, Dr. Dawn Mussallem shared her personal journey as a cancer and heart transplant survivor.

She is an assistant professor of medicine at Mayo Clinic and a board-certified lifestyle medicine and breast specialist.

Dr. Mussallem discussed how everyone can live healthier lives.

  • On Tuesday, Daphne Jones shared the secret to unlocking your full potential.

A retired senior vice president and chief information officer with over 30 years of experience at IBM, Johnson & Johnson, and General Electric, Jones is highly regarded as a global executive, business advisor, and digital strategist.

Her first book, “Win When They Say You Won’t,” serves as a guide to help anyone break through obstacles and achieve the career or life of their dreams.

  • On Wednesday, We heard from Dr. Heidi Hanna who is an expert on managing stress and brain-based health and performance.

She is a NY Times bestselling author of several books, including The Sharp Solution, Stressaholic, and Recharge.

Her deep passion for this work comes from her own personal and early struggles with stress, anxiety and depression which she shared, as well as give tips on how to manage it.

  • On Thursday, Patricia McElroy delved into the theme of belief.

McElroy serves as president of the VyStar Foundation and senior vice president of VyStar Credit Union. Before that, she studied theology at Yale.

She and Orender explored the beliefs and mindsets that guide people through work, life, transitions, and a world that questions what we believe.
