JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 23-year-old man was charged with the murder of a 22-year-old woman in September 2023 in the Jacksonville Heights area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

On Wednesday, police announced the arrest of Anthony Gutierrez in the shooting death of Natalie Ann Acevedo.

On Sept. 14, 2023, JSO officers responded to a local park on Old Middleburg Road South after a citizen reported seeing a car idling at the park with what appeared to be bullet strikes on the driver’s side.

When they arrived, officers found Acevedo dead in the car, according to JSO.

Police later determined that she had died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, and an autopsy revealed the cause of death as a homicide.

After reviewing all available evidence, police identified Gutierrez as the suspect.

Gutierrez, who was already in jail on unrelated charges, and has now been charged with Acevedo’s murder.
