St. Johns County Fire Rescue lieutenant, wife found dead in apparent murder-suicide: SJCO

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A St. Johns County Fire Rescue lieutenant and his wife were found dead in their home after what the sheriff’s office called a murder-suicide.

Shawn Yarbrough and his wife Andrea Yarbrough were found shot on Thursday night around 9:20 p.m. in their residence in the Entrada subdivision off County Road 207 near Wildwood Drive.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the shooting and autopsies were conducted.

SJSO ruled Andrea Yarbrough’s death as a homicide and Shawn Yarbrough’s death as a suicide.

A neighbor told News4JAX the couple’s children were not in the home at the time of the shooting.

Another neighbor shared kind things about the couple and said he was shocked to learn what happened.

“They’re really nice, really laid-back people. Just really genuine people. I didn’t know them too well,” the neighbor said. “It’s crazy to think that this happened.”

What led to the shooting is still under investigation.

The sheriff’s office believes this was a “tragic isolated incident.”
