Voices of the 904 Ep. 1: The man leading Jacksonville’s Renaissance movement - Part I

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – At the start of 2025, Larry Wakefield Jr. took his pen and jotted four words on the front of his journal: “Year of the Creative.”

Those words set the stage for an explosive year to come for Wakefield as a businessman and a Jacksonville native.

Known as DJ Larry Love, he’s a father, artist, veteran, and multifaceted cultural curator leading what he calls “Jacksonville’s Renaissance Era.”

Wakefield is the founder of “RnB Mostly” and “Larry Love’s Organic Market” and curator of “The Pop-Out: A Live Black Music Month Concert Series.”

He joins the conversation as the first guest on “Voices of the 904.”

In part one, he talks about his mission to bring the city together, dives into his personal journey and the stories behind his brand.

The conversation continues in part two, where we talk more about Jacksonville’s development, the “boring” narrative and what Wakefield has in store for the future.
