JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Draw Together Jax, formerly known as Drink and Draw Jax, brought artists and community members together Sunday for the first-ever Draw Together Mini Fest.

The social, art-based fundraiser was designed not only to showcase creativity but also to support GAAM Good, a Jacksonville nonprofit that uses gaming culture to boost community well-being.

Festival activities included quick-draw challenges, sidewalk chalk art and lessons for beginners — like learning how to draw a Pokémon.

“We’ve got something for you, whether we’re teaching how to draw a Pokémon or doing a quick draw where everybody only has five minutes to draw a stranger,” said Ryan Thompson, founder of GAAM Good. “Keep everything fun, and make sure that no matter what your skill level, you have something you can do and some way to interact with other artists.”

Families also joined in on the fun. Derrick Brown, who attended with his daughter Chanise, said the event was the perfect outlet for her creativity.

“I’m glad something like this is coming to Jacksonville,” Brown said. “My daughter, she’s an artist, an event like this, right up her alley.”

Chanise Brown, meanwhile, sketched a self-portrait. “I think it’s like expressing myself through drawing in strokes of a pen,” she said.

The Draw Together Mini Fest marked the group’s first official festival under its new name, with plans to continue blending creativity, community and culture in future events.
