We're sharing a list of Black-owned businesses in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia for those who want to shop local during Black History Month. (WJXT)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – February is Black History Month, and this year’s national theme is “African Americans and Labor.”

It focuses on the contributions of Black Americans to the workforce across various industries.

We asked you to share some from your neighborhoods that deserve to be recognized, and we got LOTS of awesome submissions.

We’ve compiled a list with a brief description of the business, its location and a link to its website (whenever possible).

Academy of Scholars

Founder and CEO Shevonica M. Howell will soon be opening a second location of her Academy of Scholars private school, which teaches business literacy, math, spelling, reading literacy, writing, U.S. & African-American History, physical education, American Sign Language, bowling and more to students in kindergarten to 12th grade. Holley’s Bar-B-Q

Holley’s Bar-B-Q has two claims to fame: It’s the oldest continuously operating barbecue restaurant in Jacksonville, and it’s said to be where curly fries were invented.
