Decca Live music venue one step closer to bringing life to downtown Jacksonville

Mayor Deegan took part in ribbon-cutting ceremony

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A new music venue came to life after Thursday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Decca Live, a multi-level rooftop music venue at 323 East Bay Street, is the latest addition to downtown Jacksonville’s landscape.

Mayor Donna Deegan had the honor of snipping the red ribbon, stating that the city invested $1.6 million into the project.

“I can’t wait to see a show here, and I know that a lot of you can’t wait either, so I really want to thank you all for believing and investing in our city,” Deegan said. “It’s just a fantastic thing, and as they say in show business, break a leg.”

Eric Fuller and Evan Rajta, owners of Decca Live, explained why the city needed this type of venue.

“We’re in the community. We have history here. It’s something that we’ve always wanted to do is have a venue like this. And we identified, I think, a need in the market, and I think Jacksonville deserves something like this, so we’re honored to be a part of it and be able to bring these experiences to the city,” Fuller said.

“You needed a venue like this to kind of, you know, when the artists are starting out getting popular, and then, they blow up to the next level and sell out arenas and stuff,” Rajta said.

There will be a lot of different performances with several shows already sold out.

“We announced Kaskade, it sold out extremely quickly. Tape B, which is the next night, Feb. 1, that sold out very quickly. And then Pauly D, also sold out relatively quickly. So we’re just very thankful for the support we’re getting from the community,” Rajta said.

Next-door businesses like the Justice Pub were embracing its new neighbors.

Christy Livingston, bar manager, said she was excited to see more people visiting downtown.

“So it’s definitely something that’s going to help the economy downtown. And we’re just really looking forward to having them,” Livingston said, adding that Jacksonville’s ever-changing landscape is inevitable.

“I was born and raised in Jacksonville, and the Jacksonville I knew whenever I was growing up back in the 90s, is not the same. Now, I’m very impressed with the city, very thankful,” she said.

The grand opening is on Friday, Jan. 31.
