Unsettled pattern continues Saturday, watch for changes in the tropics

Tracking what could become Imelda off of our beaches

Tropical wind (.)

Showers have ended for now. There is a slight chance of a few overnight showers and thunderstorms overnight as the cold front moves south.

The unsettled pattern continues with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing Saturday, as the front slips in from the north and collides with the Gulf and Atlantic sea breezes. Locally heavy rainfall, gusty wind and lightning will be possible with stronger storms.

Partly cloudy skies with increasing wind along our beaches are expected Sunday as what could become Imelda moves to the north. Wind gusts will increase along our beaches and coastal counties as Rip Current risks and marine hazards build through the day and Monday.

WIND GUSTS (.)

Tonight: A few showers will be possible overnight with patchy to dense fog.

Saturday: Patchy to dense morning fog then partly cloudy skies before the clouds roll in with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible as a weak front stalls over northeast Florida and southeast Georgia and collides with the sea breezes, 60-70 percent. Morning lows in the 60s to 70s. Afternoon highs in the 80s to low 90s. Patchy to dense fog overnight.

Looking ahead: Partly cloudy with increasing wind and rain chances. Monday, the pattern continues as what could become Imelda heads toward South Carolina.

GFS RAINFALL (.)

Tropics: Tropical Storm Humberto could become a major hurricane tonight or Saturday. Hurricane models continue to show Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine developing this weekend over the Bahamas and then moving north.
