JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It’s not going to be a complete washout Labor Day weekend, but sunshine will be limited and rain will be sporadic.
Rainy and cloudy conditions are expected to continue on Saturday, with waves of heavy downpours starting after lunchtime. Isolated thunderstorms will produce gusty winds 35-40 mph and frequent lightning, which will occasionally keep you indoors.
Localized flooding is possible during heavy downpours, adding rainfall amounts to the saturated ground, especially in areas of Northeast Florida: Nassau and Putnam counties have received the most rain over the past few days.
Highs will stay in the unseasonably lower 80s in Southeast Georgia, mid-to-high 80s in Northeast Florida under mostly cloudy skies.
Along the coast, conditions deteriorate throughout the day. A moderate rip current risk will switch to high risk on Sunday and Monday as the wind shifts.
