JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The National Weather Service canceled a Tornado Warning it had issued for Flagler and Putnam counties until 4 p.m.
Jacksonville and surrounding areas, including World Golf Village, St. Augustine, and Palm Coast, are expected to deal with a very wet pattern stretching from Friday into early next week.
This unsettled weather is likely to last through Tuesday. Each afternoon is forecast to bring a new round of showers and thunderstorms.
Expect the worst of the storms in the afternoons, with total rainfall projections between 1 inch and 4 inches across the area.
The showers are expected to start out spotty, then spread and intensify throughout the day.
While there’s no current severe weather risk identified for today, some storms may still pack a punch—so keeping an umbrella handy is a good idea.
Day-by-day rainfall, thunderstorm forecast
Here’s what to expect, day by day.
Mornings are forecast to start mostly clear before the pattern shifts to thunderstorms by the afternoon.
For example, today’s bus stop forecast calls for 77 degrees and a clear start at 7 a.m., climbing to 88 degrees with showers and thunderstorms by 3 p.m.
Looking ahead, rain chances surge to 80% for Saturday and remain at 70% for Sunday. This rainy pattern is likely to extend into the start of next week, with a series of wet afternoons on the horizon.
These repeated showers could challenge any outdoor plans, including backyard barbecues and walking the dog. The early mornings offer the best window for getting outside.
Temperature outlook
While the rain may put a damper on some holiday plans, at least temperatures are expected to stay comfortable.
Hourly and weekly forecasts from Exact Track 4D show much of Jacksonville hovering in the mid-to-high 80s through the period. With storms building later in the day, The Weather Authority recommends handling outdoor needs early and staying alert through the afternoon.
Take care when venturing out, as quick downpours could make for slippery roads and sudden changes in weather.
