JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Get ready for a weather shift as the Labor Day weekend approaches in Jacksonville. Rain chances go up slightly today and even higher Friday and throughout the holiday weekend.
Here’s what to expect: a stationary front is lingering over the region, and it’s leading to some push and pull between cooler and warmer air.
That means slight chances for showers—starting around 30% today, rising Thursday, and then a 70% likelihood by Friday.
Over the weekend, rain is forecast to become even more prevalent, with higher chances of onshore showers between the river and the beaches.
Some of these showers could drop a lot of rain in a short time, especially during “training” weather events where heavy bursts follow one another.
Beach outlook and other observations
Beachgoers can still look forward to warm afternoons, with air temperatures near 88 degrees and water temperatures around 85 degrees.
However, be aware that a moderate rip current risk is in effect, so swim with caution and check local advisories if you plan to head out.
