Locally heavy rain with slow-moving thunderstorms continues across portions of Clay, St. Johns, and Putnam counties. These will continue through around midnight as they move south. A stray shower or two will be possible as the front moves through our area overnight.
Behind the front, drier air will filter in, clearing out the tropical air that has drenched us over the past few days.
The heat continues. Today marks the 100th day with temperatures reaching 90 degrees. If we receive 15 more days of 90 degrees or higher, we could break the all-time record of 114 days set in 2011.
In the tropics, Tropical Storm Fernand is weakening as it moves over the open Atlantic.
Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms will continue through midnight.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny skies and drier air. The heat remains, but it will be less tropical. It will be drier and slightly cooler, with lows in the 60s to 70s. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s inland and the upper 80s along the beaches. Winds will come from the northwest at 5-10 mph.
This week: The drier pattern continues on Wednesday, with a chance of showers and storms increasing by the end of the week.
