Tropical heat with a Tropical swell on the way

Watching the Tropics

. (.)

It is a warm and muggy evening. Showers are winding down over our southern counties and should fade between 10 - 11 p.m. In the Tropics, Erin is a Category 4 hurricane and will gradually turn north over the next few days. A large tropical swell is expected along our beaches through the rest of the week.

Hurricane Erin remains a major hurricane. A turn toward the north is expected as Erin heads toward the Bahamas. Rip current risks along our beaches will remain High.

Drier air is slipping south. The combination of the increasing onshore flow and high pressure will keep afternoon convection to isolated showers and storms. Rain chances increase this weekend as the Gulf breeze returns.
