Dangerous hot weather for multiple days

Feels like temperature remains in 100s through Tuesday

Cooling centers in Jacksonville will reopen on Sunday due to the feels like temperatures staying in the 100s for multiple days. A drier air mass and high pressure is the primary cause for the hot dry air. It will continue through the weekend.

Please do not leave any person, pets or any living thing in a vehicles. It could be dangerous and or deadly in minutes. Feels like temperatures will range from 110 to 115 this weekend.

Extreme Heat is expected on Monday with heat indices up to 115 degrees Fahrenheit.

SUNDAY’S FORECAST

A heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. through 7 p.m. Though Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida are accustomed to the hotter weather heat exhaustion, heat stroke and dehydration are highly likely. Staying indoors during the advisory with air conditioning is encouraged. If you must be outdoors, stay hydrated and take multiple breaks in the shade while wearing light colored and lightweight clothing.

Winds will continue from the southeast and south through midnight until winds begin to shift from the west. Temperatures will drop into the upper 80s by midnight. Clouds will remain mostly clear with no rain chances. Rain is not likely on Sunday either, however heat will become more unbearable.
