Live Radar: Strong thunderstorms impacting Northeast Florida through the evening

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It’s a good idea to stay weather-aware as you get on with your day because thunder is expected in the forecast, and Jacksonville’s weather is living up to its unpredictable reputation today.

The setup for today? True to Florida’s style, changeable, with potential for thunder making an appearance.

A few strong storms are possible in inland areas with gusty downburst winds and locally heavy rainfall.

Wind gusts could be up to 50 mph, with localized flooding and frequent lightning strikes. The strongest storms will be from 2-8 p.m.

Heat Advisories are likely over the weekend and early next week with highs in the mid to upper 90s Saturday through Monday. The hottest temperatures will be from 1-6 p.m., with the heat index maxing out between 108-112 degrees.
