JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Now that the storms have started to wind down, evening temperatures will move into the low 80s, upper 70s under partly cloudy skies.
Concerned about holiday plans? Your Fourth of July isn’t expected to be a washout. While some scattered showers are possible between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m., the bulk of the activity is forecast to stay mostly west of I-95 thanks to a strong sea breeze pushing storms inland.

By 7 p.m., conditions are likely to clear out for downtown Jacksonville and other fireworks shows, with projected evening temperatures hovering in the low 80s. Stray showers can’t be ruled out during the evening, but by 9 or 10 p.m., nearly all rain should be out of the area, leaving behind a pleasant—if slightly cloudy—night for festivities.
Looking ahead: tropical developments and the extended outlook
The Weather Authority team is also tracking a frontal boundary expected to stall around the Florida-Georgia border, holding close to I-10. This feature is expected to contribute to ongoing, scattered showers over the weekend, driven by the daily sea breeze. Forecasts currently indicate a 40 to 50 percent chance of rain through the weekend, with most showers remaining isolated rather than widespread.
In addition, the National Hurricane Center shows an area with a 40 to 60 percent chance of tropical development in coming days, but this system is not a direct concern for the local area. Instead, it may affect winds along coastal areas, so beachgoers may notice some breezy conditions.
Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft is on standby to fly the system, if necessary.
For those with outdoor plans, the extended 7-day forecast reveals high temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s, and a gradual tapering of rain chances heading into the new week.
