The summer heat and humidity will endure, and as the southwest wind returns, showers and thunderstorms will add to our afternoon forecast. Coverage of showers and thunderstorms will increase throughout the weekend, with this unsettled pattern affecting our plans into next week.
These storms will develop along the Gulf breeze, typically around Highway 301/US1, as they move east. Rain chances will rise after 2 p.m., with showers and storms continuing until around 8 p.m.
Evening: Showers and thunderstorms will persist through sunset, then weaken late.
Saturday: Partly cloudy and warm initially, then becoming cloudy and humid with scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m., with a 50-70 percent chance. Lows will be in the 70s. Afternoon highs will reach into the 90s inland, and upper 80s to low 90s along the beaches. Winds will blow from the SW at 5-10 mph.
Sunday: Starting with partly cloudy skies, then clouds will move in along with scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m., with a 50-70 percent chance. Lows will be in the 70s.
