JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The area won’t see any break from the heat today. Most of Northeast Florida can expect a dry day, with the exception of a lower than 20% chance of rain west of Highway 301.
This will leave the beaches sunny and mostly sunny in town, which drives highs into the mid-90s.
Expect little in the way of rain if you’re heading outdoors or catching the Jumbo Shrimp’s 12:05 p.m. game.
Forecasts show only a slim chance for an isolated thunderstorm west of Jacksonville, in areas like Macclenny, Starke and Lake City.
Some brief, spotty showers may pop up between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., but for most, storm worries stay away.
One spot to watch is inland Georgia, where overnight thunderstorms could target Waycross to Valdosta and clip Lake City from 2-4 am Thursday.
Rainy pattern expected to move in Friday
Forecasts show that rain and thunderstorm chances will rise across the area by the end of the week.
While Thursday is likely to remain mostly dry (with just a few inland storms), showers and storms could return and become more widespread Friday and through the weekend.
No tropical threats in the Atlantic
Tropical Storm Andrea didn’t last one day before the pseudo storm weakened into a remnant low last night in the north central Atlantic.
