Monday brings lots of sunshine and lower rain chances

“Feels like” temperatures will be in the triple digits

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville wakes up today to cooler temperatures compared to recent heat waves.

The Weather Authority reports a refreshing start, with lows around 73 degrees in Jacksonville, low to mid 70s inland, and mid 70s to low 80s along the coast. These values are a welcome change for anyone who’s been feeling the strain of the recent triple-digit heat index.

This break is expected to last into tomorrow, but the relief is only partial.

While those scorching heat index readings are stepping back from the extremes, the heat isn’t letting go just yet.

‘Feels like’ temperature stays stubbornly high

Even though the official highs are forecast to stay below the 100 mark, it’s still going to feel steamy.

News4JAX’s Exact Track 4D shows that “feels like” temperatures are likely to push into the mid-90s through the afternoon.

So as you head outside, expect conditions to be warmer than the thermometer might suggest.

The triple-digit factor appears to be out of the picture, but the heat index remains elevated, especially for anyone with outdoor plans.

Coast vs. inland: What to expect

Inland areas are starting in the low to mid 70s, while coastal spots are just a bit warmer in the morning.

Throughout the day, both regions will experience elevated heat index values, making the mid-90s a likely “feels like” target nearly everywhere.

While today’s temperatures mark a move in the right direction, the heat continues to play a huge role in daily plans and activities.

As always, stay hydrated, take breaks if you’re outside, and keep an eye on pets and neighbors.
