Clear skies and warm temperatures tonight. Patchy fog will be possible inland.

On the calendar, it’s official: summer is here. However, the heat started early. Today marks 44 days of afternoon highs reaching at least 90 degrees so far this year.

The heat will persist as the chance of showers and thunderstorms increases with the return of southwesterly flow.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m., 20 percent.
