Jacksonville, FL – Update 9:00 p.m. Locally heavy rain and thunderstorms continue over Union, Baker and Bradford counties.
Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall have dumped, radar estimated totals, of 2 - 5 inches on top of what came through Wednesday.
This brings the 3-day totals to over 6 inches for some inland areas west of Highway 301 and near I-10.
Flood Advisories are posted for Baker, Union, Bradford and Alachua counties through 10:30 p.m.
The unsettled pattern, due to the competing sea breezes and heat, will continue Friday through Father’s Day weekend. Temperatures are just above our seasonal averages, but the humidity is making the low 90s feel closer to the triple digits.
Locally heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts will be the main hazards as the risk of severe weather remains low.
Evening: Showers with thunderstorms. Some locally heavy with gusty wind.
Friday: Summer officially starts next Friday, but the heat and humidity are already here. The southeasterly breeze will help ignite afternoon showers and thunderstorms, 40-70 percent, mainly after 2 p.m. Locally heavy rain and strong wind gusts will be possible in stronger storms. Lows will be in the 70s. Afternoon highs will reach the 90s inland, upper 80s to low 90s along the beaches. Feel like temperatures around 100 degrees. Wind: Southeast at 10-15 mph. Showers with storms end after sunset with patchy fog developing overnight.
Father’s Day Weekend: The summer pattern continues with hot and humid afternoons, accompanied by our daily dousing of showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the 70s. Highs in the 90s. Rain chances 50-70 percent.
