JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A cold front will approach Southeast Georgia this evening, bringing with it not necessarily cooler temperatures, but drier air beginning on Saturday.
However, before the front arrives, stormy weather will factor into our Friday.
Heavy downpours, hail, and the possibility of an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out as the system strengthens throughout the early evening.
Northeast Florida counties will see scattered rain this afternoon before the cold front drops into Southeast Georgia after dinner time. The front will push the storms into Northeast Florida throughout the evening hours, finally tapering out by sunrise Saturday morning.
Weekend outlook: a break from the storms?
After a wet and stormy end to the week, Saturday morning may see a few lingering showers, but behind the front, expect cooler and more seasonable temperatures.
The extended forecast points to a drier spell into the weekend and much of next week, with highs settling back into the upper 80s and low 90s.
Rain chances are lower for several days after Friday, giving Jacksonville time to dry out and recover from the wet pattern.
