Rain with thunderstorms continues for Clay and St. Johns counties. These will continue to move northeast, toward our coastal zones through around 10 p.m. Showers with patchy fog will be possible overnight and early Friday morning.

Rounds of rain and storms swept through the area today. Afternoon heating and the Gulf Coast sea breeze will brought additional instability to the thunderstorms. Strong to isolated severe storms were tracked this evening. Along with the locally heavy rainfall, hail and gusty wind there were also multiple reports of a funnel cloud. Video sent to the Weather Authority may help show that it was a brief tornado.

Friday will be an Impact Day as a cold front and the active sea breezes will bring more of the same. We are expecting an earlier start along the Gulf Coast with showers reaching I-75 from late morning through early afternoon. Strong to isolated severe storms will be possible. Rain with thunderstorms will continue overnight and early Saturday.

Saturday will start with some showers followed by clearing skies and cooler afternoon temperatures. Sunny skies will wrap up the weekend with near seasonal temperatures.

Tonight: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall and hail will be possible.

Friday: Cloudy skies developing with showers and thunderstorms, at a 60-70 percent chance. Morning lows will be in the 60s and 70s, with afternoon highs reaching the upper 80s to low 90s. Winds will be from the SE/SW at 10-15 mph. Showers and storms will continue overnight, through early Saturday morning.

Looking ahead: After a hot week and a couple of stormy days, the weekend is looking much better with seasonal temperatures and sunny skies.
