JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville is enjoying a rare treat—a noticeable drop in humidity and a comfortable cool down, thanks to drier air filtering in from the north. Thursday evening is expected to bring great outdoor weather as temperatures cool into the 70s just after 9 p.m. The relief comes from dew points dipping into the upper 50s and overnight lows dropping to the low-to-mid 60s across the area.
Early risers on Friday can expect a delightfully coolish start, with dry air making morning walks or outdoor activities much more pleasant.
Heat and humidity is expected to return for Memorial Day weekend
The break from high humidity won’t last. As the weekend approaches, dew points are forecast to climb back into the mid-70s—a level more typical for August than late May. With winds turning east and the drier air moving out, the sticky feeling is expected to return across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.
Temperatures are also on the rise, with highs likely reaching the mid-90s Saturday and Sunday. Most of the region should stay dry on Saturday, more humid air is expected through the weekend, especially on Sunday. The risk for inland showers or thunderstorms increases as the sea breeze pushes moisture farther from the coast, mainly affecting areas like Clay and Putnam counties.
If you have travel plans to central Florida or the theme parks around Kissimmee, be prepared for scattered showers during the afternoon and evening hours.
Memorial Day itself is forecast to be hot, humid, and mostly dry along the coast, with only a few isolated inland showers likely during the afternoon. As the work week begins, the forecast from News4JAX’s Exact Track 4D suggests rain chances will pick up—especially on Tuesday and Wednesday—though temperatures are still expected to reach into the mid-90s each day.
