Hotter temperatures as humidity slowly returns

Getting closer to record highs

RECORD HIGHS (.)

Jacksonville, FL – Cooling off under clear skies. A light breeze will continue along the beaches while inland areas will see light to calm wind with patchy to areas of dense fog overnight.

We were 3 degrees shy of record highs today, but as temperatures soar, we will get closer to those record highs Friday and this weekend.

Use caution when walking pets between 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. due to hot asphalt. The general rule is, pavement can be 20-30 degrees hotter than the air temperature. Dog paws can burn on a surface of 125 degrees in one minute.

ROAD TEMPERATURES (.)

Look before you lock and stay hydrated. If you are working outside, take shade and water breaks.

Tonight: Mostly clear and mild with patchy fog.

Friday: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies as afternoon highs flirt with records. Patchy to dense fog early with lows in the 60s inland, upper 60s to low 70s along our beaches. Afternoon highs in the 90s inland, upper 80s to 90s along the beaches. Wind: SW 5-15 mph.

The pattern continues this weekend as the humidity slowly increases. A weak front will move into southeast Georgia late Wednesday bringing a slight chance of showers.
