JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Hurricanes outside the official Atlantic season—which runs from June 1 through November 30—are rare, but they can occur in the preseason.
As of now, there are no systems to track, and no development is expected.
However, today, May 15, marks the beginning of the routine issuance of the Atlantic basin Tropical Weather Outlook for 2025. This product highlights significant areas of disturbed weather and assesses their potential for tropical cyclone formation over the next seven days.
The Tropical Weather Outlook is issued daily from May 15 through Nov. 30 at 2 a.m., 8 a.m., 2 p.m., and 8 p.m. After the switch to standard time in November, these issuance times shift to 1 a.m., 7 a.m., 1 p.m., and 7 p.m.
Special Tropical Weather Outlooks may also be issued between the scheduled times if conditions warrant an update.
