Using ExactTrack 4D technology, we’re able to anticipate dangerous weather conditions days in advance, helping you plan with confidence. And while Wednesday starts out relatively calm, cloud cover will increase, setting the stage for a wet stretch heading into the weekend.
Wednesday’s Forecast: Warm and Wet
Across the region, temperatures are climbing into the mid-80s. Jacksonville will peak around 85°F, with slightly cooler readings in Brunswick (82°F) and warmer ones down in Callahan and Lake City, reaching up to 90°F. Rain chances increase significantly into the afternoon and evening, particularly after 2 p.m., with showers intensifying by 5 p.m.
If you’re heading to the beach, be aware that the rip current risk is moderate—use caution when entering the water.
Weekend Outlook: Rain Moves In
As we move into Friday evening and overnight into Saturday, expect widespread rainfall across North Florida and southern Georgia. Unfortunately, this soggy trend continues into Sunday—just in time for Mother’s Day. Rain chances range between 70% and 80%, with periods of heavy rainfall likely.
Forecasted rainfall totals through the weekend include:
- Gainesville: ~2.5 inches
- Lake City: ~2.5 inches
- Jacksonville: ~4 inches
- Parts of southern Georgia: Up to 4 inches
While this rain is much-needed, the timing may cause disruptions to outdoor plans. Consider moving gatherings indoors, but don’t worry—it won’t be a total washout hour by hour.
Looking Ahead
Temperatures will cool slightly, dipping from the upper 80s to the low 80s as the rain system settles in. This cooler trend sticks around into early next week, alongside lingering showers.
