JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Slow-moving storms are impacting our area with heavy downpours, leaving behind up to an inch of rainfall in some areas. Localized flooding is the main concern in spots prone to slow drainage.
Expect a stormy Sunday as rain moves into our region, starting in the southern counties and moving to the north. Add the Atlantic sea breeze, and by mid-afternoon, we’ll have more widespread rain with some thunderstorms. Our area could have heavy downpours at times, with precipitation accumulation of up to 1″+ in some areas. Temperatures will warm into the upper 70s, low 80s under cloudy skies. Gusty downburst winds can’t be ruled out.
The storm system will move out overnight, allowing mostly dry conditions Monday morning and warm temperatures before a cold front approaches in the afternoon. This frontal system could affect the afternoon commute as stormy, potentially severe weather returns starting in Southeast Georgia before dropping and weakening into Northeast Florida.
