Weather Authority Impact Day: Flooding rains, gusty winds, and isolated thunderstorms through Monday morning

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Intense cells continue to move from the west to the east Sunday, with heavy rain, gusty winds, and isolated thunderstorms expected.

Woodbine has unofficially reported over 1.5″ of rain before 9 a.m.

At 10:48 a.m., Mayport Naval Air Station reported a peak gust of 44 mph.

A Flood Warning has been issued for the St. Mary’s River in Macclenny beginning Sunday evening until further notice as the storms move through with heavy downpours.

A Flood Watch is in effect through Monday at 8 a.m. for the I-10 corridor mainly in the low-lying areas and roadways. All counties are under the Flood Watch. Our region could see between 2 and 4″ by Monday afternoon. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are also a factor.

The rain will be consistent throughout the day with little relief. Temperatures won’t warm up due to the thick cloud coverage and rainy conditions. Highs will only reach the mid-60s.
