JACKSONVILLE, FLA – After a month of shivering through a dozen freezes, we can finally put away winter coats. January, which will end with an average temperature 6 degrees colder than normal, is set to make a dramatic exit with a warm-up.
Today, we bask in the warmest temperatures since before Thanksgiving, with highs soaring to 81 degrees. Sunny skies and breezy southwest winds at 10 to 15 mph will make for comfortable outdoor weather. Coastal areas will enjoy slightly cooler temperatures in the low 70s.
A breathtaking sunset will give way to a dry evening, with isolated showers arriving around midnight and continuing through the predawn hours. Rainfall amounts will be light, with less than a tenth of an inch expected.
Morning clouds on Saturday will quickly dissipate, leaving behind another sunny day with slightly cooler highs in the low 70s. Sunday will see a return to the mid-70s, with sunshine and dry weather continuing through next week.
The warm spell is expected to last into the first week of February, with highs reaching the upper 70s. It seems that winter’s icy grip on Jacksonville has finally loosened.
