JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Overheard at a comedy show Friday night, a lady behind me told her friend, “It’s not supposed to be this cold in Jacksonville.” Ma’am, I couldn’t agree more.
It’s another super cold morning across our region, with temperatures in the mid-20s to low-30s. This is day 12 of 25 (roughly 50%) in which we’ve had freezing-low temperatures in the morning. Winds will be light, keeping the wind chill factor to a minimum.
Thankfully, sunshine will dominate our skies as we struggle to reach the mid-50s. Another cold evening and Sunday morning are ahead before a nice warmup on Monday that will last through the end of the month.
Overnight lows will stay just above the freezing level at the airport, but areas to the west and north will have another Freeze Warning beginning at 1 a.m. Sunday morning.
You can give your plants a breather this afternoon, but be sure to replace the coverings this evening before the sunsets.
