The wind will increase late tonight and early Thursday morning.

The wind and cold temperatures will lead to windchill temperatures in the teens to low 20s!

Tonight: Freeze Warning 2 a.m. - 9 a.m. Cold Weather Advisory due to the wind, 3 a.m. - 9 a.m. Clear cold and becoming breezy.

Thursday: A Freeze Warning 2 a.m. - 9 a.m. Cold Weather Advisory 3 a.m. - 9 a.m. Sunny skies and cold temperatures continue. Morning lows in the upper 20s to low 30s inland, upper 30s to low 40s along our beaches. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s, 50s. Wind: NW 10 - 20 mph.

Keep protecting those Ps!

People: Dress in layers. Try to stay out of the wind. Be a good neighbor and check on young children and the elderly as they are the most sensitive to cold weather. If the temperature cannot be maintained at home, make temporary arrangements to stay elsewhere, including shelters or with friends and family.

Pets: Bring outdoor pets inside or give them a warm shelter to stay in.

Plants: Cover plants to protect them from the cold temperatures and frost. Cloth blankets, frost blankets are best. Try to avoid plastic sheets as covers.

Pipes: Cover pipes and allow outdoor faucets to slowly drip to prevent freezing and breaking. If you have a pump-house, make sure it is covered or insulated. We used to leave a lamp with a bright light on in our pumphouse for added heat and protection.

Pools: Leave the pump on all night or shut it off and leave it off until the temperatures are above freezing.

Practice Fire Safety: Use safe heating sources indoors. Do not use fuel-burning devices such as grills; they release carbon monoxide, a deadly gas. Also, use space heaters as directed in the instructions and make sure they are away from beds, furniture, and blankets.

Sunrise: 7:24 a.m. Sunset: 5:43 p.m.
