JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida will experience confusion from the changes in weather over the next 48 hours. It will be abnormally warm on Monday, a storm will move through and then temperatures will turn frigid overnight.
SUNDAY EVENING FORECAST
Temperatures will drop into the low 50s with light winds from the south and partly cloudy skies. There is no rain in the forecast.
MONDAY FORECAST
Temperatures will begin in the low 50s with temperatures into the low 60s by 10 a.m. Winds will continue from the south, increasing in speed from 10 mph to 20 mph by 9 a.m. Winds will continue to increase into the 30 mph range.
Clouds will develop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as the cold front moves through the area. Rain is possible from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thunderstorms are possible from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Temperatures will peak into the upper 60s and low 70s for the day. Damaging winds, lightning, and heavy downpours are possible.
AFTER THE COLD FRONT
Temperatures will drop drastically as the cold front passes through. A freeze watch will be in effect from Monday evening through Tuesday morning. The image above shows the cold front moving through the south as it heads east. There have already been multiple tornado watches and warnings activated from Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
FREEZE WATCH: Monday through Tuesday
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 degrees will be possible through early Tuesday morning.
Pets and plants should be brought in by Monday sunset. To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
