JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Try to finish up those last-minute 2024 resolutions on Saturday, especially if they involve the outdoors because Sunday will be wet. While the approaching cold front won’t cool us down too much, it will be the possibility of thunderstorms along with rainy conditions throughout Sunday afternoon.
Light, misty rain is bothersome for some in Northeast Florida until early afternoon when the sun attempts to break through the cloud barrier.
Meanwhile, Saturday’s high will top out around 77 under clearing skies, breezy winds, and only a 10-15% chance of showers.
Overnight temperatures will drop into the mid-to-lowers 60s under partly cloudy skies.
Hazards on Saturday will be at the Northeast Florida beaches where a high rip current risk is in effect until 9 p.m. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore and occur most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar. Even the strongest swimmers can get swept away in a rip current. It’s best to stay on the sand and enjoy the water from the shore. Water temperature in Jacksonville Beach is a chilly 58 degrees.
Stormy weather is heading our way from the west where severe weather is causing thunderstorms along the Gulf coast. This ugly weather will effect our Sunday afternoon and could cause the last home Jaguars home game to be a soaker. Plan accordingly and be prepared to be impacted by wet weather.
