JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The National Hurricane Center continues to follow a broad area of low pressure over the southwestern Caribbean Sea.
In the area, gradual development into a tropical depression is possible for the system over the weekend or early next week while it drifts generally northward over the central/western Caribbean Sea.
There is a 40% chance of formation over the next 7 days.
As we move into November, there are no tropical waves to follow in the Atlantic Ocean or the Gulf of Mexico.
According to the Gulf of Mexico forecast, the strong high pressure north of the area will continue to support moderate to fresh winds and moderate seas across most of the Gulf region through the upcoming weekend.
Fresh-to-strong E winds are expected in the southeastern Gulf, including the Straits of Florida from Wednesday through Thursday.
In the Atlantic, an area of high pressure will continue to support an extended period of strong winds, producing rough seas that will affect our area’s beaches through the weekend.
