The full moon is also called a “micromoon” because it appears the smallest of any full moon of the year. This happens when the moon’s orbit is the farthest away from Earth.

The best part of February’s full moon? We actually saw it in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia! No billowing clouds or pesky rain got in the way of our view.

February’s full moon reached peak illumination at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. Its maximum brightness occurs at 7:34 a.m. Eastern time Saturday, according to space.com.
