‘Contentious’: City Council reacts after marathon meeting leads to passed $2 billion budget

Jacksonville City Council members endured a nearly 14-hour meeting that stretched into early Wednesday morning to finalize the city’s budget.  The session, which began Tuesday afternoon, wrapped up around 4 a.m., marked by intense debates over a property tax reduction and a controversial budget amendment. Council President Kevin Carrico said, “I’ve never seen a budget this contentious.”
