8-year-old boy airlifted after e-scooter, UPS truck collide in Nocatee, deputies say

An 8-year-old boy was critically injured Tuesday in an e-scooter crash on Crystal Sands Court in Nocatee, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded Tuesday and found his electric scooter had been struck by a UPS truck. The Traffic Unit is investigating; however, preliminary information shows the UPS driver had the right of way, the Sheriff’s Office said. He was airlifted to a hospital and was listed in critical but stable condition. The Sheriff’s Office said he wasn’t wearing a helmet.
