'Very rare’: Forensic child psychologist details potential factors that can contribute to parricide

Parricide is a crime we don’t often hear about.  On Monday morning, David Lee, 44, and his wife, Brandi Smith, 45, were found shot to death inside their home in Middleburg. Clay County investigators identified the couple’s son as their killer. He was identified as Trevor Lee, 14. News4JAX consulted with Dr. Justin D’Arienzo, a forensic psychologist, Justin D’Arienzo, who specializes in evaluating minors who have been implicated in heinous crimes.  He said several reasons and factors could potentially contribute to a child attempting to kill their parents.
