‘Second Chance Act’ sets new safety standard for high school athletes in Florida

As high school athletes gear up for the upcoming sports season, a new Florida law intends to prioritize their safety beyond the standard requirements around the country. Senate Bill 1070, also known as the “Second Chance Act,” requires at least one electrocardiogram, also known as an “EKG,” in addition to the already required physical for any Florida student attempting to participate in high school sports.
