FHP asks community to help locate suspect vehicle in deadly hit-and-run crash in Putnam County

Troopers looking for information about pickup truck or work van that struck, killed 59-year-old pedestrian

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is asking the community to help locate the suspect vehicle of a hit-and-run crash that killed a 59-year-old man in Putnam County early Tuesday morning.

Troopers said they’re looking for a GMC or Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck or work van, which will be missing its passenger side mirror. FHP did not provide a color description.

According to FHP, the man from Crescent City was walking on U.S. 17 near Gail Drive just after 5 a.m. when he was hit by a vehicle that then left the scene.

The man died at the scene.
