According to police, the truck had just dropped off a container at the business and was exiting the lot when the driver made a sharp right turn.
As the truck turned, its rear wheels ran over a warehouse employee — a man in his 60s — who was bent over counting inventory near the exit.
Paramedics rushed the man to the hospital, where he died.
Betty J. Walker lives in the neighborhood. She said she didn’t know what was happening Friday morning when she saw all of the commotion, but when she found out about a man dying, but she couldn’t believe it.
“Very painful,” Walker said.
After speaking with people on the scene, News4JAX looked up the history of the company on the OSHA website.
We learned that this site has had violations in 2023 and 2021.
The violation in 2021 was for the company having employees operate “forklifts that had the potential to tip-over thereby exposing employees to crushed-by and struck-by hazards.”
They had to pay thousands for that violation.
News4JAX reached out to OSHA to see if they are investigating what happened here today.
The company also said it wasn’t going to make a comment on the matter.
