78-year-old bicyclist hit by pick-up truck, killed in Columbia County: FHP

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 78-year-old bicyclist died Tuesday night after he was hit by a pick-up truck on U.S. 441 in Colubmia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said that just after 10 p.m. Tuesday, the bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was headed north on U.S. 441 near Southwest Teardrop Glen.

According to the report, a white Ford F350, driven by a 28-year-old man, was also headed north and hit the bicyclist, who died at the scene.

It’s unclear if charges will be filed.

The driver of the pick-up was not hurt. He was wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
