JFRD clears scene of ‘out-of-control’ fire on Jacksonville’s Westside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol said Sunday that it was monitoring an “out-of-control” fire that was burning about 15 acres on Jacksonville’s Westside.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department updated News4JAX on Monday morning that the scene had been cleared Sunday night.

The FHP reported at 5 p.m. Sunday that the fire was in the area of State Road 23 (Cecil Commerce Center Parkway) near Normandy Boulevard (SR 228) and 103rd Street (SR 134).

Troopers said the burning area was difficult to access because it is bordered by a pond and a swamp.
