4 Veterans from the representing each military branch have joined forces to fight Veteran PTSD and suicide by rowing across the Atlantic. Thanks to contributions from their Amelia Island / Fernandina community and more from across the country, they have raised over $500,000. They leave Nov. 26th to quarantine and prep for the Dec. 12th event. They will still be accepting donations at www.foarfromhome.com until March.
Disabled veteran says video of incident with man & service dog brought back ill memories
She now relies on her service dog Magic when she goes out in public. Iski says when she saw the video of Army veteran Stephen Harmon and his service dog being denied service, it brought back memories of confrontations inside restaurants. According to federal law, if a disabled person with a service dog enters a businesses that services the public, that business must allow the service dog to accompany its disabled handler. There are also questions businesses can ask if they think the animal is pet and not a service dog. If the disabled person answers yes and that person is not in a wheelchair or visibly disabled, the business can then ask what task the dog has been trained to do to aid the disabled person.
ABC news political commentator Cokie Roberts dies at 75
(CNN) - Veteran journalist Cokie Roberts, winner of three Emmys and a legend and trailblazer in broadcasting, has died at the age of 75, ABC News announced. Robert worked in television, public radio and publishing for over 40 years. She began her tenure at ABC as a contributor for "This Week with David Brinkley" and later became ABC's chief congressional analyst. Roberts is survived by her husband Steve V. Roberts and her children Lee Roberts and Rebecca Roberts, her grandchildren Regan, Hale and Cecilia Roberts and Claiborne, Jack and Roland Hartman, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.
