Jacksonville faces scattered afternoon storms and a heat advisory with feels-like temperatures climbing near 110 degrees, as Tropical Storm Erin strengthens off the coast and is expected to become a hurricane. Waves and surf are expected to build midweek, but the storm is forecast to remain well offshore.

Jacksonville and surrounding areas are in for another day of dry, steamy heat. While the risk for rain remains low for most, a few inland spots west of Jacksonville could see an isolated thunderstorm. Rain chances are forecast to increase by the weekend.
