Deegan faces panel of local journalists in televised event; Davis attends separate untelevised event with parents
The Mayoral Candidate Forum is happening Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the WJXT-4 studios. Kent Justice along with journalists from First Coast News, WJCT and the Florida Times Union will ask questions to one of the two candidates, Democrat Donna Deegan. Both candidates, Deegan and Republican Daniel Davis were invited months ago. Deegan accepted, Davis declined.

Trump, Biden go at it -- from a distance -- in town halls
Angry and combative, Trump refused to denounce the QAnon conspiracy group โ and only testily did so regarding white supremacists. Trump and Biden were supposed to spend Thursday night on the same debate stage in Miami. The presidential rivals took questions in different cities on different networks: Trump on NBC from Miami, Biden on ABC from Philadelphia. Trump was Trump. โIt could say that Iโm a lousy candidate, that I didnโt do a good job,โ Biden said.

During the debate, Deegan and Rutherford both touched on the coronavirus pandemic, health care, the economy and social justice. The individual income tax cuts expire in 2025. Deegan said she would support that plan, while Rutherford said absolutely not. President Trump visits Jacksonville for โGreat American Comebackโ rally
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ President Donald Trump walked off Air Force One to a crowd of thousands at Jacksonvilleโs Cecil Airport on Thursday, where he hosted a โGreat American Comebackโ campaign rally. RELATED: Florida leaders speak as crowd awaits President Trumpโs Jacksonville visitThe president began his speech by making a promise to his assembly of supporters. โForty days from now, weโre going to win Florida, weโre going to win four more years in the White House," Trump said. Before his visit to Jacksonville, he spoke at an airport hangar in swing-state North Carolina to a crowd that included health care workers. When asked what issues mattered to her, Deborah Kramp, a Trump supporter, responded: โSupreme Court justice, thatโs number one.
Clay County Sheriffs Office invites community to share ideas to bridge gap with law enforcement
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. The Clay County Sheriffs Office on Thursday will be holding an event called Talking for a Change.The Sheriffs Office is inviting the community to help come up with ideas to bridge the gap with law enforcement. Through organized discussion, we hope together we can find solutions we, as an agency, can present at the next National Sheriffs Association conference, the Sheriffs Office said in a Facebook post. Aaron Bean looked the part, dressing as โAdmiral of Auction, the Commodore of Coinโ has he hosted a live auction to raise money in support of NCCOA. โIn almost five decades, NCCOA now offers a full complement of programs, services and resources for seniors in Nassau County," Executive Director Janice Ancrum said. Pianist John Springer and the Leelynn Osborn Live Band provided entertainment.
